De même que les habitants de Jérusalem l'ont vu descendre lentement du mont des Oliviers, puis remonter la colline opposée jusqu'à la ville, de même le monde verra un jour le Fils de l'homme descendre dans les cieux. Il ne viendra pas alors sous la forme d'un homme doux et humble, mais avec puissance et grande gloire. Il ne viendra pas alors monté sur un âne : Il viendra dans une nuée, le véhicule emblématique de la divinité. Il n'aura pas alors à emprunter un âne : ses préparatifs préalables seront le grondement de la mer et l'ébranlement des puissances des cieux.
