Le Roi du ciel vous a envoyé une lettre, à vous, un homme terrestre et mortel ; pourtant, vous dédaignez presque un tel cadeau, un trésor aussi inestimable. Chaque fois que tu lis l'Évangile, c'est le Christ lui-même qui te parle. Et pendant que vous lisez, vous priez et vous parlez avec lui.

If an earthly king—our tsar—wrote you a letter, would you not read it with joy? Certainly, with great rejoicing and careful attention. The King of heaven has sent a letter to you, an earthly and mortal man; yet you almost despise such a gift, so priceless a treasure. Whenever you read the Gospel, Christ himself is speaking with you. And while you read, you are praying and talking with him.
