Il est certain, et nous devons le croire par la foi, que la puissance de Satan n'est pas égale à la puissance de Dieu. Elle n'est pas aussi forte, aussi large et aussi étendue. Elle est en tout point infiniment moindre. Il n'y a pas de comparaison possible entre ce qui est fini. Si nous la comparons avec les bons anges, elle sera inférieure à certains et supérieure à d'autres... Mais si nous la comparons avec la puissance de l'homme, elle est bien plus grande à tous égards, mais, il faut le savoir, c'est une puissance finie et naturelle, pas surnaturelle, car alors personne ne pourrait être sauvé. Il est puissant, mais pas tout-puissant.
