Avoir une nouvelle vie.

Il y a, bien sûr, ceux à qui Dieu a déterminé qu'il ne donnerait jamais une nouvelle vie. Ceux qui ont commis le péché impardonnable, le blasphème contre le Saint-Esprit (Matthieu 12:31), ne seront pas régénérés. Ceux qui ont foulé aux pieds le sang du Christ (Hébreux 10:29) ne seront pas régénérés. Ceux qui ont commis le péché mortel (I Jean 5:15-16) ne seront pas régénérés. Je ne prétends pas savoir s'il s'agit d'un, de deux ou de trois groupes distincts. Ce que je sais, c'est que ceux qui tombent sous le coup de ces textes ne viennent pas avec un affidavit signé nous permettant de savoir avec certitude qu'ils sont coupables de ce péché. En tant que tel, je ne crois pas que nous puissions isoler des personnes en chair et en os et déterminer - "Celui-là est irrécupérable".

There are, of course, those whom God has determined that He would never give new life to. Those who have committed the unpardonable sin, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit (Matthew 12:31), will not be regenerated. Those who have trampled under foot the blood of Christ (Hebrews 10:29), will not be regenerated. Those who have committed the sin unto death (I John 5:15-16) will not be regenerated. I do not pretend to know whether this is one, two or three distinct groups. I do know this – that those who fall under these texts do not come equipped with a signed affidavit letting us know for certain that they are guilty of this sin. As such, I don’t believe we can single out real flesh and blood people and determine – “That one is beyond redemption.”
