Le péché est un problème moral. Il s'agit de ma rébellion contre Dieu et de ma quête pour avoir pour moi la gloire qui lui est due. Le péché ne consiste pas d'abord à enfreindre un ensemble abstrait de règles. Le péché consiste d'abord et avant tout à rompre la relation avec Dieu, et parce que j'ai rompu cette relation, il est alors facile et naturel de me rebeller contre les règles de Dieu.

Sin is a moral problem. It is about my rebellion against God and my quest to have for myself the glory that is due Him. Sin is not first about the breaking of an abstract set of rules. Sin is first and foremost about breaking relationship with God, and because I have broken this relationship, it is then easy and natural to rebel against God’s rules.
