Toute personne sérieuse et réfléchie se rend compte, je pense, que l'élément religieux de sa nature doit être reconnu et cultivé si l'on veut que toutes les forces de l'âme humaine agissent ensemble dans un équilibre et une harmonie parfaits. Et en effet, ce n'est pas par hasard que les plus grands penseurs de tous les âges étaient des âmes profondément religieuses.

There can never be any real opposition between religion and science; for the one is the complement of the other. Every serious and reflective person realizes, I think, that the religious element in his nature must be recognized and cultivated if all the powers of the human soul are to act together in perfect balance and harmony. And indeed it was not by accident that the greatest thinkers of all ages were deeply religious souls.
