Pour l'évangéliste, c'est une réflexion sérieuse que partout où l'Esprit de Dieu est à l'œuvre, là, Satan est sûr d'être occupé. Nous devons nous en souvenir et nous y préparer. L'ennemi du Christ et l'ennemi des âmes est toujours aux aguets, toujours à la recherche de ce qu'il peut faire, soit pour entraver soit pour corrompre l'œuvre de l'évangile. Cela ne doit pas terrifier ni même décourager l'ouvrier ; mais il est bon de le garder à l'esprit et d'être vigilant. Satan ne laissera aucune pierre non retournée pour gâcher ou entraver l'œuvre bénie de l'Esprit de Dieu. Il s'est avéré être l'ennemi vigilant et incessant de cette œuvre, depuis les jours de l'Éden jusqu'à aujourd'hui.

It is a serious reflection for the evangelist that wherever God’s Spirit is at work, there Satan is sure to be busy. We must remember and ever be prepared for this. The enemy of Christ and the enemy of souls is always on the watch, always hovering about to see what he can do, either to hinder or corrupt the work of the gospel. This need not terrify or even discourage the workman; but it is well to bear it in mind and be watchful. Satan will leave no stone unturned to mar or hinder the blessed work of God’s Spirit. He has proved himself the ceaseless, vigilant enemy of that work, from the days of Eden down to the present moment.
