Le restreindre ?

Je ne sais pas pourquoi le Saint-Esprit devrait être restreint de manière à ce qu'il ne puisse être à l'œuvre qu'au moment où un sermon est prononcé et non dans la préparation réfléchie et priante qui le précède. La même erreur a été commise par un prédicateur actuel qui avait l'habitude de préparer la première moitié de ses sermons et de mettre en roue libre la seconde moitié, souhaitant "dépendre du Saint-Esprit pour l'inspiration". Une dame avisée qui l'écoutait un jour était perplexe devant le changement qui s'opérait au milieu du sermon. Après coup, elle a demandé au prédicateur ce qui s'était passé. Il lui expliqua sa méthode, ce à quoi elle répondit : "C'est étrange. Vous êtes un meilleur prédicateur que le Saint-Esprit !"

Why the Holy Spirit should be restricted so that He can only be at work at the moment a sermon is delivered and not in the thoughtful and prayerful preparation beforehand, I don’t know. The same mistake was made by an actual preacher who used to prepare the first half of his sermons and then freewheel the second half, wishing to “depend on the Holy Spirit for inspiration.” One astute lady listening to him one day was perplexed by the change that took place halfway through the sermon. Afterwards she asked the preacher what happened. So he explained his method to which she replied, “That is strange. You are a better preacher than the Holy Spirit!”
