Mon apologie

Mon apologie est un argument en faveur de la prise au sérieux de la Bible, et elle s'adresse en partie, du moins, à ceux qui la banalisent ou l'idolâtrent, et qui passent ainsi à côté de sa qualité dynamique, vivante et transformatrice. Il s'adresse également à ceux qui sont à la recherche d'un fondement spirituel et moral dans leur vie chaotique, et qui ont peut-être entendu parler de la Bible mais en savent peu et veulent en savoir plus. C'est aussi un argument qui condamne l'approche paresseuse et simple d'esprit que beaucoup sont tentés d'adopter lorsqu'ils considèrent la question sérieuse de l'interprétation de la Bible. Enfin, c'est aussi une invitation à entrer dans la Bible et à la laisser entrer en nous, en chacun de nous, et plus particulièrement en ceux qui ont été exclus de la foi de la Bible par l'utilisation de la Bible.

My apologia is an argument in favor of taking the Bible seriously, and it is addressed in part at least to those who either trivialize it or idolize it, and who thereby miss its dynamic, living and transforming quality. It is an argument addressed as well to those who are in search of spiritual and moral grounding in their chaotic lives, and who may have heard of the Bible but know little and want to know more. It is also an argument that condemns the lazy, simpleminded approach that many are tempted to take when considering the serious matter of Bible interpretation. Finally, it is also an invitation to enter into the Bible and let it enter into us, all of us, and most particularly into those who have been excluded from the faith of the Bible by the use of the Bible.
