Venir affamé

Vous et moi venons adorer affamés ! Nous ne devons pas venir avec des mains pleines de cadeaux et de friandises, en pensant que le culte est fondamentalement l'endroit où nous servons et nourrissons Dieu... Ne venez pas à Dieu avec une oie cuite sur un plateau, comme si Dieu avait faim. Venez avec les mains ouvertes et le ventre vide et laissez-le s'honorer en vous remplissant (Psaume 50:10-12). Ce sentiment a été repris par Paul dans son sermon sur la colline de Mars : Le Dieu qui a fait le monde et tout ce qui s'y trouve, puisqu'il est le Seigneur du ciel et de la terre, n'habite pas dans des temples faits de main d'homme ; il n'est pas non plus servi par des mains humaines, comme s'il avait besoin de quelque chose, puisqu'il donne lui-même à tous la vie, le souffle et toutes choses (Actes 17:24-25). L'adoration est une fête où Dieu est l'hôte, le cuisinier, le serveur et le repas lui-même.

You and I come to worship hungry! We must not come with hands full of goodies and gifts, thinking that worship is fundamentally where we serve and feed God… Don’t come to God with a cooked goose on a platter, as if God were hungry. Come with open hands and an empty belly and let Him honor Himself by filling you (Psalm 50:10-12). This sentiment was echoed by Paul in his sermon on Mars Hill: The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with human hands; neither is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He himself gives to all life and breath and all things (Acts 17:24-25). Worship is a feast in which God is the host, the cook, the waiter, and the meal itself.
