Mais Dieu est un être infiniment beau, parce qu'il possède une excellence et une beauté infinies... Ainsi, le péché contre Dieu, étant une violation d'obligations infinies, doit être un crime infiniment odieux, et donc mériter une punition infinie... L'éternité de la punition des hommes impies la rend infinie... et par conséquent ne la rend pas plus que proportionnelle à l'odieux de ce dont ils sont coupables.
