Un dilemme n'existerait que s'il n'y avait pas de souffrance dans un monde de péché. Il faudrait alors dire qu'il ne peut y avoir de vrai Dieu. S'il n'y avait pas d'adversité dans un monde pécheur, soit Dieu ne serait pas bon, soit il ne serait pas omnipotent. Soit il ne se soucierait pas de l'impunité du péché, et donc il ne serait pas bon, soit il serait incapable de punir le péché, et donc il ne serait pas omnipotent. Ce serait un vrai problème dans notre monde, où le péché abonde manifestement.

A dilemma would exist only if there were no suffering in a sinful world. Then we would have to say there cannot be a true God. Were there no adversity in a sinful world, God either would not be good or would not be omnipotent. Either He would be unconcerned about sin’s being unpunished, and therefore not good, or He would be unable to punish sin, and therefore not omnipotent. That would be a real problem in our world, where sin obviously abounds.
