Tout homme, par sa propre volonté naturelle, hait Dieu ; mais lorsqu'il est tourné vers le Seigneur, par la repentance évangélique, alors sa volonté est changée ; alors sa conscience, maintenant endurcie et assoupie, sera vivifiée et réveillée ; alors ses cœurs durs seront fondus, et ses affections indisciplinées seront crucifiées. Ainsi, par cette repentance, l'âme entière sera changée, et il aura de nouvelles inclinations, de nouveaux désirs et de nouvelles habitudes.

Every man, by his own natural will, hates God; but when he is turned to the Lord, by evangelical repentance, then his will is changed; then his conscience, now hardened and benumbed, shall be quickened and awakened; then his hard hearts shall be melted, and his unruly affections shall be crucified. Thus, by that repentance, the whole soul will be changed, and he will have new inclinations, new desires, and new habits.
