Dans la nuit la plus sombre de l'âme, les chrétiens ont quelque chose à quoi s'accrocher que Job n'a jamais connu - nous connaissons le Christ crucifié. Les chrétiens ont appris que lorsqu'il semble n'y avoir aucune autre preuve de l'amour de Dieu, ils ne peuvent échapper à la croix. "Lui qui n'a pas épargné son propre Fils, mais l'a livré pour nous tous - comment ne nous donnera-t-il pas aussi, avec lui, toutes choses de bonne grâce ?". (Romains 8:32)... Lorsque nous souffrons, il y aura parfois du mystère. Y aura-t-il aussi de la foi ? Oui. Si notre attention se porte davantage sur la croix et sur le Dieu de la croix que sur la souffrance elle-même.

In the darkest night of the soul, Christians have something to hold onto that Job never knew – we know Christ crucified. Christians have learned that when there seems to be no other evidence of God’s love, they cannot escape the cross. “He who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all – how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32)… When we suffer there will sometimes be mystery. Will there also be faith? Yes. If our attention is focused more on the cross and on the God of the cross than on the suffering itself.
