Le découragement est l'insatisfaction du passé, le dégoût du présent et la méfiance de l'avenir. C'est l'ingratitude pour les bénédictions d'hier, l'indifférence à l'égard des opportunités d'aujourd'hui et l'insécurité quant aux forces de demain. C'est l'inconscience de la présence de la beauté, l'insouciance pour les besoins de nos semblables et l'incrédulité à l'égard des promesses du passé. Discouragement is dissatisfaction with the past, distaste for the present, and distrust of the future. It is ingratitude for the blessings of yesterday, indifference to the opportunities of today, and insecurity regarding strength for tomorrow. It is unawareness of the presence of beauty, unconcern for the needs of our fellowman, and unbelief in the promises of old. It is impatience with time, immaturity of thought, and impoliteness to God.
