Nous ne nous approchons pas plus de l'infinitude de la puissance créatrice de Dieu, si nous enfermons l'espace de sa révélation dans une sphère décrite par le rayon de la Voie lactée, que si nous la limitons à une balle d'un pouce de diamètre. Tout ce qui est fini, tout ce qui a des limites et une relation définie avec l'unité, est également éloigné de l'infini... L'éternité n'est pas suffisante pour embrasser les manifestations de l'Être suprême, si elle n'est pas combinée avec l'infinitude de l’espace.

We come no nearer the infinitude of the creative power of God, if we enclose the space of its revelation within a sphere described with the radius of the Milky Way, than if we were to limit it to a ball an inch in diameter. All that is finite, whatever has limits and a definite relation to unity, is equally far removed from the infinite... Eternity is not sufficient to embrace the manifestations of the Supreme Being, if it is not combined with the infinitude of space.
