Un point de
vie biblique équilibré sur l'adoration doit prendre en compte à la
fois la transcendance et son immanence, son exaltation et sa
proximité, sa sainteté majestueuse et son amour qu'on ne peut mesurer. Cet
équilibre n'est pas toujours facile à maintenir. Les églises qui
mettent l'accent sur la transcendance divine sont en danger de faire
apparaître Dieu comme un Dieu distant, inamical, sans amour,
dépourvu de grâce. Les églises qui mettent l'accent sur
l'immanence de Dieu perdent parfois de vue sa majesté et sa pureté,
sa haine du péché et l'importance conséquente de toute rencontre
divine et humaine. Pour maintenir cet équilibre, nous devons revenir
encore et toujours à la Bible elle-même afin que nous puissons
faire plaisir à Dieu dans l'adoration plutôt que de simplement agir
de notre propre intuition.

A biblically
balanced view of worship must take into account both God's
transcendence and his immanence, his exaltation and his nearness, his
majestic holiness and his unmeasurable love. This balance is not
always easy to maintain. Churches that focus on divine transcendence
are in danger of making God appear distant, aloof, unfriendly,
unloving, devoid of grace. Churches that focus on God's immanence
sometimes lose sight of his majesty and purity, his hatred of sin,
and the consequent seriousness of any divine-human encounter. To
maintain this balance, we must go back again and again to the
Scriptures themselves so that we may please God in worship rather
than merely acting on our own intuitions.
