C'est l'épée de l'Esprit qui transperce [Satan] et le vainc. C'est cette épée grande et forte avec laquelle Dieu punit le Léviathan, ce serpent tortueux. C'est l'épée tranchante qui sort de la bouche de celui qui est assis sur le cheval, et avec laquelle il frappe ses ennemis. Chaque texte est une fléchette pour tourmenter le vieux serpent. Il en a senti l'aiguillon des milliers de fois. C'est pourquoi il est engagé contre la Bible et en déteste chaque mot.

It is the sword of the Spirit that pierces [Satan] and conquers him. It is that great and strong sword with which God punishes Leviathan, that crooked serpent. It is that sharp sword that proceeds out of the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, with which He smites his enemies. Every text is a dart to torment the old serpent. He has felt the stinging smart thousands of times. Therefore, he is engaged against the Bible and hates every word of it.
