Une présomption

"L'orgueil est la présomption que nous pouvons être heureux sans dépendre de Dieu comme source de notre bonheur et sans nous soucier si les autres trouvent leur bonheur en Dieu. L'orgueil est la passion d'être heureux contaminée et corrompue par deux choses : 1) le refus de voir Dieu comme la seule source de joie véritable et durable, et 2) le refus de voir les autres personnes comme conçues par Dieu pour recevoir notre joie en Lui. Si vous prenez le désir d'être heureux et que vous enlevez Dieu comme source de votre bonheur, et les gens comme destinataires de votre bonheur, il ne vous reste que l'orgueil. L'orgueil, c'est la poursuite du bonheur ailleurs que dans la gloire de Dieu et le bien des autres. "

“Pride is the presumption that we can be happy without depending on God as the source of our happiness and without caring if others find their happiness in God. Pride is the passion to be happy contaminated and corrupted by two things: 1) the unwillingness to see God as the only fountain of true and lasting joy, and 2) the unwillingness to see other people as designed by God to receive our joy in Him. If you take the desire to be happy and strip away from it God as the fountain of your happiness, and people as the recipients of your happiness, what you have left is pride. Pride is the pursuit of happiness anywhere but in the glory of God and the good of other people.”
