Jésus devait être un prédicateur étonnant
Don Kistler, Feed My Sheep, éd. Don Kistler, Soli Deo Gloria Ministries, 2002, p. 218.
Jesus must have been amazing preacher, because the Scripture tells us that when He preached people were amazed, which would make Him an amazing preacher. But what was the source of their amazement? He taught as one who had authority, not like the scribes and Pharisees. It is to be feared that we have far too many scribes and Pharisees in pulpits today. They do not preach with authority and the people are not amazed – amused, perhaps, but not amazed.

Dieu agira plus tôt pour son peuple
Abraham Wright
The saints fare the better for the insolence and outrages of their enemies, whose ruin is thereby accelerated; and somewhat God will do the sooner for his people, lest the enemy exalt himself.

La paix étant un fruit de l'Esprit
Jerry Bridges, The Practice of Godliness, NavPress, 1996, p. 166.
Because peace is a fruit of the Spirit, we are dependent upon the Spirit’s work in our lives to produce the desire and the means to pursue peace. But we are also responsible to use the means He has given us and to take all practical steps to attain both peace within and peace with others.
Jerry Bridges, The Practice of Godliness, NavPress, 1996, p. 166.

La nature
THOMAS CHALMERS (1780-1847)
ÉVANGÉLISTE ET ORATEUR ÉCOSSAIS
Nature does not go forth in search of Christianity;but Christianity goes forth to knock at the door of nature and, if possible, awaken her out of her sluggishness. . . . And seeing, that the disinclination of the human heart to entertain the overtures of the gospel, forms a mightier obstacle to its reception among men than all the oceans and continents which missionaries have to traverse, there ought to be a series of aggressive measures in behalf of Christianity, carried on from one age to another, in every clime and country of Christendom.

Pourquoi il doit y avoir une seconde venue de Jésus
John MacArthur
Why there must be a Second Coming: 1. Jesus must return because the promise of God demands it. 2. The claims of Christ Himself demand it. 3. The testimony of the Holy Spirit demands it. 4. The future of the church demands it. 5. The corruption of the world demands it. 6. Jesus must come because the covenant He made with Israel demands it. 7. The vindication of Christ Himself demands His return. 8. The judgment of Satan demands His coming. 9. The hope of believers demands it. 10 The groaning of the whole creation demands it.

Il est temps d'écouter.
LLOYD J. OGILVIE
ANCIEN AUMÔNIER DU SÉNAT DES ÉTATS-UNIS
ASKING GOD YOUR HARDEST QUESTIONS, 2004
It’s time to listen. To people and to God. There is nothing more foolish than an answer to an unasked question or a response to an unexpressed need. And there is nothing more impelling than God’s answers in the Bible to people’s most urgent questions and his response to their deepest needs.

La prière exige un effort.
Alexander Strauch, Leading With Love, Lewis and Roth, 2006, p. 11.
Prayer requires effort. When we pray for people, we focus our thoughts on them; we take their burdens upon ourselves; we intercede before God for them; we sacrifice our time for them; we commit ourselves to their wellbeing. We demonstrate true care and compassion.
Alexander Strauch, Leading With Love, Lewis and Roth, 2006, p. 11.

Most Christians expect little from God, ask little and therefore receive little and are content with little.

Être une station de passage
Jerry Bridges, The Gospel for Real Life, 2002, p. 186.
We are not to be a terminus point for the gospel, but rather a way station in its progress to the ends of the earth. God intends that everyone who has embraced the gospel become a part of the great enterprise of spreading the gospel.
Jerry Bridges, The Gospel for Real Life, 2002, p. 186.

W. T. Matson
O blessed life! — the heart at rest,
When all without tumultuous seems,
That trusts a higher will, and dreams
That higher will, not mine, the best,
O life, how blessed, how divine!
High life, the earnest of a higher!
Savior, fulfill my deep desire.
And let this blessed life be mine.
W. T. Matson

Nous devons évangéliser
Leighton Ford
We are to evangelize, not because it is easy, not because we may be successful, but because Christ has called us. He is our Lord. We have no other choice, but to obey him.

Vaincre et rester vigilant
Thomas Brooks
When you have overcome one temptation, you must be ready to enter the lists with another. As distrust, in some sense, is the mother of safety, so security is the gate of danger.

Les commandements du Seigneur
A.W. Pink, Gleanings in Genesis, Moody Press, 1950, p. 142.
The Lord’s commands are rarely accompanied with reasons but they are always accompanied with promises, either expressed or understood.

Chaque bon cadeau que Dieu nous accorde
R.C. Sproul
Just as there are no ultimate tragedies for the believer, so for the impenitent unbeliever there are no ultimate blessings. Every good gift God bestows upon the wicked, for which the wicked do not glorify God or acknowledge His goodness with gratitude and worship, becomes a tragedy. The more gifts God gives that are despised by the recipient, the more guilt is incurred, so that, to the wicked, on Judgment Day the gifts of God’s kindness become tragedies.

Dieu habite le ciel
John MacArthur, The Glory of Heaven, 1996, page 56.
To say that God dwells in heaven is not to say that He is contained there. But it is uniquely His home, His center of operations, His command post. It is the place where His throne resides. And it is where the most perfect worship of Him occurs. It is in that sense that we say heaven is His dwelling – place.
John MacArthur, The Glory of Heaven , 1996, page 56.
