Charles Spurgeon
“You are nothing better than deceitful hypocrites if you harbor in your minds a single unforgiving thought. There are some sins which may be in the heart, and yet you may be saved. But you cannot be saved unless you are forgiving. If we do not choose to forgive, we choose to be damned.”
Charles Spurgeon
A man once approached the great preacher Charles Spurgeon with a question. “There’s a Bible verse I read that’s bothering me because I can’t understand it,” he said.
“You should be happy to have such a problem,” Spurgeon replied. “It’s all those Bible verses I do understand that bother me!”
God has given us in scripture a full revelation of His nature and His character. And He has given us an unmistakably clear mandate to share Him and His Word with those who have not heard. If we focus on obeying Him on a daily basis—wherever we are—He will lead us where He wants us to go and to the people He wants us to reach.

Charles H. Spurgeon
Leading implies following; and those who are enabled to follow the guidance of the Divine Spirit are most assuredly children of God, for the Lord ever leads His own children. If, then, you are following the lead of God’s Spirit, you have one of the evidences of Sonship.
Charles H. Spurgeon
As we spend time in scripture and in prayer, it’s important not to get sidetracked in trying to determine whether we’ve received an official call from God or whether we have a clear indication that we are doing God’s will. It’s too easy to get so caught up in the paralysis of analysis that we fail to act.
Most of us often have the idea that God must have a special calling on our lives. If we have no such calling from God, then we have not been selected by Him for special service, and we can only live out our lives as drones in the kingdom, one monotonous and unimportant day at a time…. That is our idea, not God’s.
Brother Andrew
Nate Saint
And people who do not know the Lord ask why in the world we waste our lives as missionaries. They forget that they too are expending their lives... and when the bubble has burst they will have nothing of eternal significance to show for the years they have wasted.

It is an indictment on our pride to think as the created, we can question the Creator’s faithfulness. God is faithful – He’s shown it in the life of Jesus Christ and He declares it cover-to-cover in the Bible. A better question to ask is whether or not we are faithful to Him in tough times with words and actions of obedience that demonstrate it. Are we joyously and productively making the most of the trials with our faith in tact, feet on the narrow path pointed toward the Celestial City, overcoming temptations, eyes firmly fixed on Jesus Christ who is the “author and perfecter of faith” (Hebrews 12:2)?

The peaceful heart becomes such when God as Spirit is perceived as Personal and allowed to become a great Friend in the most intimate manner. Listening for God’s direction and following is all-important, but it is imperative here to note that God’s voice of revelation will never oppose the recorded ordinances of God. »

Jack Frost
Have you received the difficult people whom God has placed in your life as an instrument of blessing? If you do not value, honor, and respect them, then you may be treating them like a curse, thus inheriting a curse! When we receive them as a blessing to help us find out what we are full of, then God can take every negative relationship and use it to bring us into spiritual maturity.

Are there dangers in mutual confession [of sin]? Yes, and they are substantial. Psychologically needy persons sometimes use confession to get attention for themselves. Through the apparently spiritual medium of “confession” they can handcuff a captive audience as they relate the details of their sin with deluded or feigned contrition. Confession can also foster spiritual exhibitionism, a perverted moral pleasure in airing one’s laundry. The overly morbid can bend confession to become an excuse for unhealthy hyper-introspection. Ostensibly humble confession can also be used as a vehicle for spiritual aggression: “I want to ask your forgiveness for being bitter toward you over the years” – but what follows is not a confession, but an egregious assault… Confession turned into religious routine is deadly!

J.C. Ryle, Home at Last !
Blessed be God! There shall be no sorrow in heaven. There shall not be one single tear shed within the courts above. There shall be no more disease and weakness and decay; the coffin, and the funeral, and the grave, and the dark-black mourning shall be things unknown. Our faces shall no more be pale and sad; no more shall we go out from the company of those we love and be parted asunder – that word, farewell, shall never be heard again. There shall be no anxious thought about tomorrow to mar and spoil our enjoyment, no sharp and cutting words to wound our souls; our wants will have come to a perpetual end, and all around us shall be harmony and love.
J.C. Ryle, Home at Last!

Perhaps you have been tempted to look across the aisle at church, or across the street from where you live, or maybe even across your dining room table, and think, Lord, why aren’t You dealing with that person the way You are turning the heat up on me? Why do they have it so cozy and comfortable?
If you listen carefully, you will probably hear the Spirit of Jesus say, “What is that to you? You follow Me!”
Understand, God is not calling everyone to do what He has called you to do. He is not asking everyone to endure what He has allowed you to endure. He is working in each one of our lives in wonderfully different ways, so each of us can magnify and glorify the name of Jesus.

Thomas Schreiner
Regeneration means that one has been born again or born from above (Jn. 3:3, 5, 7, 8). The new birth is the work of God, so that all those who are born again are “born of the Spirit” (Jn. 3:8). Or, as 1 Pet 1:3 says, it is God who “caused us to be born again to a living hope” (1 Pet 1:3). The means God uses to grant such new life is the gospel, for believers “have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God” (1 Pet. 1:23; cf. Jas. 1:18). Regeneration or being born again is a supernatural birth. Just as we cannot do anything to be born physically – it just happens to us! – so too we cannot do anything to cause our spiritual rebirth.
Thomas Schreiner
E.M. Bounds
In every circumstance of life, prayer is the most natural outpouring of the soul, the unhindered turning to God for communion and direction…. The heart leaps to meet with God.
E.M. Bounds
A.W. Pink, The Attributes of God.
Properties of the divine decrees. They are:
1. Eternal – To suppose any of [God’s decrees] to be made in time, is to suppose that some new occasion has occurred, some unforeseen event or combination of circumstances has arisen, which has induced the Most High to form a new resolution.
2. Wise – Wisdom is shown in the selection of the best possible ends and of the fittest means of accomplishing them. That this character belongs to the decrees of God is evident from what we know of them. They are disclosed to us by their execution, and every proof of wisdom in the works of God is a proof of the wisdom of the plan, in conformity to which they are performed.
3. Free – God was alone when He made His decrees, and His determinations were influenced by no external cause. He was free to decree or not to decree, and to decree one thing and not another. This liberty we must ascribe to Him who is supreme, independent, and sovereign in all His doings
4. Unconditional – The execution of them is not suspended upon any condition which may, or may not be, performed. In every instance where God has decreed an end, He has also decreed every means to that end.

Corrie ten Boom
Jesus is Victor. Calvary is the place of victory. Obedience is the pathway of victory, Bible study and prayer the preparation. Courage, faith, the spirit of victory—every temptation is a chance for victory, a signal to fly the flag of our Victor, a chance to make the tempter know anew that he is defeated. Roy Hession writes in Calvary Road: “Jesus is always victorious. We have only to keep the right relationship with Him and His victorious life will flow through us and touch other people.”
Thank You, Lord Jesus, that You have won the victory for us.

The Bible alone is the only authority that can bind the conscience of a person absolutely because it is the only authority that carries with it the intrinsic authority of God Himself.

Matthew Henry
Grace is the free, undeserved goodness and favor of God to mankind.
Matthew Henry

Our great concern is to focus on Christ and not evil. The more we allow the Lord to fill us with Himself, the more powerful we become in facing the trials of life. We are not helpless victims.
Nor are we powerless in our ministry to one another in times of need. After Jesus had declared the power of faith over the government of evil, He said, “And I will give unto thee keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19). That awesome challenge tells us that we can bind Satan and loose people from their bonds of fear, doubt, unbelief, and crippling limitations.
So often it’s just the opposite. We bind people up with our negative judgments, attitudes, and actions. In so doing we loose Satan to influence them…. What we say and how we act can debilitate prayers and frustrate growth. Instead, we are to claim our ministry of loosing people and groups. We are to do that by binding Satan in the name of Jesus. The same power Jesus exercised in liberating people during His ministry on earth is given to us….
The ministry of loosing people includes listening, loving, and liberating prayer in Christ’s powerful name. In our private prayers about those who are sick, we should dare to say, “Christ, You are all-powerful. You are more powerful than evil, sickness, or the demons of doubt and discouragement. In Your name I ask You to bind Satan and loose this person.” A version of that prayer can be prayed in the sick person’s presence after we’ve talked with him or her about Christ’s supremacy over all.

What God is after is not our naming our sins, but our turning from our sins in obedience. He requires repentance from specific sins. He already knows what you do… Naming all our sins may be therapeutic, certainly, but it can never be said to be required… We may name our sins on the way to repentance, but we do not do so in order to be forgiven or cleansed. We trust Christ’s work for that, alone.
