Matthew Henry
Grace is the free, undeserved goodness and favor of God to mankind.
Matthew Henry

Our great concern is to focus on Christ and not evil. The more we allow the Lord to fill us with Himself, the more powerful we become in facing the trials of life. We are not helpless victims.
Nor are we powerless in our ministry to one another in times of need. After Jesus had declared the power of faith over the government of evil, He said, “And I will give unto thee keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven” (Matthew 16:19). That awesome challenge tells us that we can bind Satan and loose people from their bonds of fear, doubt, unbelief, and crippling limitations.
So often it’s just the opposite. We bind people up with our negative judgments, attitudes, and actions. In so doing we loose Satan to influence them…. What we say and how we act can debilitate prayers and frustrate growth. Instead, we are to claim our ministry of loosing people and groups. We are to do that by binding Satan in the name of Jesus. The same power Jesus exercised in liberating people during His ministry on earth is given to us….
The ministry of loosing people includes listening, loving, and liberating prayer in Christ’s powerful name. In our private prayers about those who are sick, we should dare to say, “Christ, You are all-powerful. You are more powerful than evil, sickness, or the demons of doubt and discouragement. In Your name I ask You to bind Satan and loose this person.” A version of that prayer can be prayed in the sick person’s presence after we’ve talked with him or her about Christ’s supremacy over all.

What God is after is not our naming our sins, but our turning from our sins in obedience. He requires repentance from specific sins. He already knows what you do… Naming all our sins may be therapeutic, certainly, but it can never be said to be required… We may name our sins on the way to repentance, but we do not do so in order to be forgiven or cleansed. We trust Christ’s work for that, alone.

« Father » is the most significant name of the God of the Bible. It is the name that sets Christianity apart from all the other religions of the world. Other religions invite us to worship their gods, allahs, creators, or metaphysical forces, but Christianity invites us to believe in a Son and to enter into an intimate family relationship with a loving Father. Jesus, the Son of God, came so that we could meet His Father, be adopted into the family of God, and relate to the almighty God of the universe in an intimate, personal, concrete way as sons and daughters (2 Cor. 6:16, 18).

There is no mystery in heaven or earth so great as this; a suffering Deity, an almighty Saviour nailed to a Cross.

Hannah Smith
Sight is not faith, and hearing is not faith, neither is feeling faith; but believing when we neither see, hear, nor feel is faith; and everywhere the Bible tells us our salvation is to be by faith. Therefore we must believe before we feel, and often against our feelings, if we would honor God by our faith.
Hannah Smith
Elisabeth Elliot wrote :
"How much faith does it take to believe in God? Less, I venture to say—a great deal less—than to believe in the Unconscious generating the Conscious, Mindlessness creating Mind, Nothing giving birth to Something.
What we know of God we have seen in His Son. He in whom we are asked to trust is Love, creative Love; thinking of us, I suppose, before He thought of gravitational lenses; giving Himself in sacrificial love long before He gave us His own breath of life—for the Lamb was slain before the foundations of the world.
My Lord and my God. Forgive my faithlessness."
David Reid, Binding Satan
What does the New Testament indicate about normal Christian attitude in reference to Satan? James 4:7 says that we are to "resist the devil and he will flee" from us. How do we resist the devil? The classic passage in the New Testament for resisting the devil is Ephesians 6:10-18. This is the Christian "Standard Operating Procedure" for spiritual warfare today. Notice that there is nothing in either James 4 or Ephesians 6 about binding Satan! We are told to resist Satan –to oppose and combat his efforts and schemes. We are to take on the full armor of God so that we can stand firm and extinguish Satan's flaming missiles.

God has no pleasure in afflicting us, but He will not keep back even the most painful chastisement if He can but thereby guide His beloved child to come home and abide in the beloved Son.

In the time of His presence we have the sense of His love to us. But in the time of His absence then He sees, and we ourselves have the sense of, our love to Him.

When the church takes its mind and heart away from Christ and His words, human authority and tradition fills the vacuum.

I know of nothing which so stimulates my faith in my Heavenly Father as to look back and reflect on His faithfulness to me in every crisis and every chilling circumstance of life. Over and over He has proved His care and concern for my welfare. gain and again I have been conscious of the Good Shepherd’s guidance through dark days and deep valleys.

If God should please, the Holy Spirit could at this moment make every one of you fall on your knees, confess your sins, and turn to God. He is an Almighty Spirit, able to do wonders.

One of the greatest evidences of God’s love to those that love him is, to send them afflictions, with grace to bear them.

The men whom I have seen succeed best in life have always been cheerful and hopeful men, who went about their business with a smile on their faces, and took the changes and chances of this mortal life like men, facing rough and smooth alike as it came.
