Le pasteur
Paul David Tripp, Dangerous Calling par Paul David Tripp, 2012, p.63.
The pastor must be enthralled by, in awe of – can I say it: in love with – his Redeemer so that everything he thinks, desires, chooses, decides, says, and does is propelled by love for Christ and the security of rest in the love of Christ. He must be regularly exposed, humbled, assured, and given rest by the grace of his Redeemer. His heart needs to be tenderized day after day by his communion with Christ so that he becomes a tender, loving, patient, forgiving, encouraging, and giving servant leader. His meditation on Christ – His presence, His promises, and His provisions – must not be overwhelmed by his meditation on how to make his ministry work.

Un manque de réflexion et d'expérience
Jim Elliff, Led by the Spirit, Joshua Press, 1999, p. 34-35.
Increasingly our world is short on thinking and long on experience. Mix this with inner turmoil and a desperate need for answers from some higher source, along with the infiltration of eastern religions, and you can easily see why the mystical aspects of our culture are so predominant. Our generation would certainly far rather load all of their information in a computer and forget the agony on thinking, especially thinking biblically.
Jim Elliff, Led by the Spirit, Joshua Press, 1999, p. 34-35.

Bill Thrasher, A Journey to Victorious Praying, Moody Publishers, 2003, p. 84.
Meditation is simply talking to God about His Word with a desire that your life and those you pray for come into agreement with it.

Robert Peterson, Hell on Trial : The Case for Eternal Punishment, 1995, p.150.
Jesus underscores the fact that death seals one’s fate, when He says to the Pharisees, “If you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins” (John 8:24). Hebrews 9:27 agrees: “Man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.”

Dieu est immuable ou inchangeable.
Sam Storms, One Thing, Christian Focus, 2004, p.175.
We must never forget that even in heaven only God is immutable or unchanging. We are ever subject to greater transformation and improvement. But it is always a change from one stage of glory and knowledge and holiness to the next higher stage of glory and knowledge and holiness. It is one thing to be free of imperfection, but another to experience perfection perfectly. We will be perfect in heaven from the first moment we arrive in that we will be free from defect, free from sin, free from moral corruption and selfishness. But that perfection is finite, because we are finite. It is always subject to expansion. There is change, but always for the better!
Sam Storms, One Thing, Christian Focus, 2004, p.175.

Jonathan Edwards, Distinguishing Marks of a Work of the Spirit of God, 1741. Langage moderne emprunté à Archie Parrish, The Spirit of Revival, Crossway Books, 2000, p. 64.
The nature of the operations and affections are to be inquired into and examined by the rule of God’s Word and not by the actions of mere sensual spirits.

God’s concurrence in all events does not implicate Him in sin. Men sin according to God’s predetermination in His decree but by secondary causes, so God does not directly and effectively cause the acts of sin.

Paul David Tripp, Dangerous Calling, 2012, p. 193-194.
You must think of yourself not only as an instrument of the work but also as a recipient. Your work as an instrument does not cancel out your identity as a recipient, and your identity as a recipient doesn’t weaken your work as an instrument. You and I must never approach grace only as instruments of that grace in the lives of others; we must also remember that there is no grace that we offer to others that we don’t at once need ourselves.
Paul David Tripp, Dangerous Calling, 2012, p. 193-194.

Lyle C Rollings III, 2008
The Greatest Man in History… Jesus; Had no servants, yet they called Him Master. Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer. He had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. He did not live in a castle, yet they called Him Lord, He ruled no nations, yet they called Him King, He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.

Nancy Leigh, Brokenness, The Heart DeMossGod Revives, Moody Publishers, 2002, p. 49-50.
We want gain without pain; we want the resurrection without going through the grave; we want life without experiencing death; we want a crown without going by way of the Cross. But in God’s economy, the way up is down.

Sam Storms, One Thing, Christian Focus, 2004, p. 155.
God is able to cause all things people do to us, even the bad things, to work together for our good (Romans 8:28). That isn’t to say that all things are good, but that God can orchestrate the evil into a symphony of glory.
Sam Storms, One Thing, Christian Focus, 2004, p. 155.

Le travail
Ted Kluck, It's Sometimes a Wonderful Life, extrait de Don't Call it a Comeback, édité par Kevin DeYoung, 2011, Crossway Books, p. 153
Work, especially in this economy, is an occasion to trust God (Lord, please provide for my family’s needs), thank God (Lord, thank you for the work you’ve given me), and love God (Lord, help me to work in such a way as to bring glory and honor to your name). Am I seeking my identity not in what I do, but in Who I know?

La joie est une réponse
Richard Mayhue, 1 et 2 Thessalonicians, Christian Focus Publications, 1999, p. 54.
Thankfully, joy is an all-season response to life. Even in the dark times, sorrow enlarges the capacity of the heart for joy. Like a diamond against black velvet, true spiritual joy shines brightest against the darkness of trials, tragedies and testing.

Le péché est dangereux
Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Holiness, The Heart God Purifies, Moody Publishers, 2002, p. 79.
Most of us have become so familiar with sin that we no longer see it as a deadly monster. Sin is more dangerous than wild bears, more deadly than blazing forest fires. Ask Nebuchadnezzar, who lost his mind because he refused to deal with his pride. Ask Samson, who was reduced to a pathetic shred of a man because he never got control over the lusts of his flesh. Ask Achan and Ananias and Sapphira, who all lost their lives over “small,” secret sins.
Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Holiness, The Heart God Purifies, Moody Publishers, 2002, p. 79.
