Le roi souverain de l'univers entier
Le roi souverain de l'univers entier est notre Père. Il ne nous a pas seulement créés, mais il nous a aussi recréés en Jésus-Christ et nous a fourni tout ce dont nous avons besoin. Paul dit au timide Timothée : "Car Dieu ne nous a pas donné un esprit de crainte, mais de puissance, d'amour et de sagesse" (2 Tim. 1:7, KJV). La peur incrédule et pécheresse est contraire à ce que Dieu a mis en nous à la conversion (Romains 8:15). Nous surmontons l'emprise de la peur en sachant ce que Dieu a fait pour nous par son Fils. Nous brisons l'emprise de la peur en réalisant que Dieu ne nous a pas donné cette peur ; il nous a plutôt donné l'esprit de puissance, d'amour et de maîtrise de soi.

Guilt makes us seek Christ, but gratitude should make us serve Him. Guilt should lead to confession, but without a response of love as the motive of renewed obedience, true repentance never matures.

I believe that human morality, rather than flagrant sin, is the greatest obstacle to the gospel today. If you ask the average law-abiding person why he expects to go to heaven, the answer will be some form of “because I’ve been good.” The rich young ruler (see Matthew 19:16-20), the prodigal son’s older brother (see Luke 15:28-30), and the Pharisee praying in the temple (see Luke 18:9-12) all had this in common: They were confident of their own goodness. Their attitude is replicated throughout our society. And the more religious a person is, the more difficult it is for that person to realize his or her need for the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

Paul and James both say that we should rejoice in our trials because of their beneficial results. It is not the adversity considered in itself that is to be the ground of our joy. Rather, it is the expectation of the results, the development of our character that should cause us to rejoice in adversity. God does not ask us to rejoice because we have lost our job, or a loved one has been stricken with cancer, or a child has been born with an incurable birth defect. But He does tell us to rejoice because we believe He is in control of those circumstances and is at work through them for our ultimate good.

L'union n'est pas physique, mais théologique
L'union n'est pas physique, mais théologique. L'union avec le Christ implique trois choses : la solidarité (le Christ, en tant que second Adam, est notre représentant), la transformation (le Christ, par le Saint-Esprit, nous change de l'intérieur) et la communion (le Christ demeure avec nous comme notre Dieu). L'union avec le Christ est comme un mariage, où nous sommes unis au Christ par une alliance d'amour. C'est comme un corps dont les membres sont unis à notre tête vivante. Ou vous pourriez dire que l'union avec le Christ est comme un bâtiment, où nous sommes la maison et le Christ habite en nous.

The union isn’t physical, but theological. Union with Christ implies three things: solidarity (Christ as the second Adam is our representative), transformation (Christ by the Holy Spirit changes us from the inside out), and communion (Christ abides with us as our God). Union with Christ is like wedlock, where we are joined to Christ in a covenant of love. It is like a body where we as members are joined to our living Head. Or you might say union with Christ is like a building, where we are the house and Christ dwells within us.
