Le Christ a littéralement marché dans nos chaussures
Tim Keller
Christ literally walked in our shoes and entered into our affliction. Those who will not help others until they are destitute reveal that Christ's love has not yet turned them into the sympathetic persons the Gospel should make them.

Dieu est infini
Giordana Bruno
God is infinite, so His universe must be too. Thus is the excellence of God magnified and the greatness of His kingdom made manifest; He is glorified not in one, but in countless suns; not in a single earth, a single world, but in a thousand thousand, I say in an infinity of worlds.

La prière commence avec Dieu
John Lloyd Ogilvie, God's best for my life
Prayer begins with God, seeps into our heart, and gives us the courage to ask for what God is more ready to give than we are to ask. God has more prepared for us than we are prepared to ask. We need to spend as much time seeking what God wants us to ask for as we do asking. Then our asking will be in keeping with His will. The desire to pray is God's gift. Memorize this verse. Praying is not to get God's attention but focusing our attention on Him and what He has to say to us. Don't make prayer a one-way telephone conversation in which we hang up before we listen to what He has to say!

Persévérer
Hank Hanegraaff, Resurrection, W Publishing Group, 2000, p. 153.
Why do people punish their bodies to run a grueling marathon race? Most runners name two reasons: the sense of personal reward they get and the physical benefits of the exercise. The same two rewards apply in the spiritual realm: great prizes await those who persevere, and the very process of living by faith builds strong character.

La tentation n'est pas un péché !
F.B. Meyer
But temptation is not sin. A man may ask me to share with him the spoils of a burglary, but no one can accuse me of receiving stolen property if I indignantly refuse and keep my doors tightly shut against him.
F.B. Meyer

"Un homme à tout faire"
John Newton, Lettres
You know the common expression, “A jack of all trades.” I am sure a minister had need be such a one: a brave soldier, an alert watchman, a caring shepherd, a hardworking farmer, a skillful builder, a wise counselor, a competent physician and a loving nurse.

Avons-nous ouvert notre porte au Christ ?
JOHN R. W. STOTT
RECTEUR EMERITUS DE L'ÉGLISE ALL SOULS, LONDRES
LES BASES DU CHRISTIANISME, 1991
Have we opened our door to Christ? Have we ever invited him in? That was exactly the question I needed to have put to me. For, intellectually speaking, I had believed in Jesus all my life, on the other side of the door. . . . But all the time, often without realizing it, I was holding Christ at arm’s length and keeping
him outside. I knew that to open the door might have momentous consequences.

La critique
Jerry Wragg
Criticism should be viewed as a tool for growth and change. Several temptations arise when we experience criticism. 1. We fear the loss of respect; 2. We look for reasons to challenge the data; 3. We search for flaws in the process; 4. We point out weakness in the other person; 5. We demand credit for our strengths; 6. We play the martyr, reeling under the unjust complaints of others. Yet, when we run away from the slightest hint of criticism, we forfeit the very means by which our Lord wants to make us more effective and godly.

Kris Lundgaard, The Enemy Within, 1998, p. 47.
You can feel the hostility of the flesh whenever you approach God – it makes real love for Him into work: Digging around the Bible to find a juicy new insight to impress your small group is like sailing the Caribbean, but poring over the Scriptures to find the Lover of your soul is like skiing up Mount Everest. Conjuring up a happy mood with some music you don’t even know the words to is like solving 2 + 2 with a calculator. But savoring the glory of Christ and His tender love until your heart is softened toward Him is like using mental math to calculate pi to the thousandth place. And giving a birthday present to your best friend is like forcing down some double-fudge brownies. But giving up your extra bedroom to a homeless person in the name of Jesus is like eating the Rockies for breakfast.
Kris Lundgaard, The Enemy Within, 1998, p. 47.

Biographie de Jésus
James Francis
He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another obscure village, where He worked in a carpenter shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher. He never had a family or owned a home. He never set foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place He was born. He never wrote a book, or held an office. He did none of the things that usually accompany greatness. While He was still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against Him. His friends deserted Him. He was turned over to His enemies, and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While He was dying, His executioners gambled for the only piece of property He had – His coat. When He was dead, He was taken down and laid in a borrowed grave. Nineteen centuries have come and gone, and today He is the central figure for much of the human race. All the armies that ever marched, and all the navies that ever sailed, and all the parliaments that ever sat, and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of man upon this earth as powerfully as this “One Solitary Life”.
James Francis

C'est si surprenant
Timothy Beougher
G.K. Chesterton once said it is surprising that people have rejected the doctrine of original sin because it is the only doctrine that can be empirically verified.

Le message central du Nouveau Testament
JOHN MAIN
MOINE BÉNÉDICTIN ANGLAIS
MOMENT DU CHRIST, 1984
The central message of the New Testament is that there is really only one prayer and that is the prayer of Christ. It is a prayer that continues in our hearts day and night. It is the stream of love that flows constantly between Jesus and his Father. It is the Holy Spirit. It is the most important task of any fully human life to become as open as possible to this stream of love.

Le but unique de l'église
Auteur inconnu
The church’s unique, God-given purpose does not lie in political activism. Nowhere in Scripture do we have the directive to spend our energy, our time, or our money in governmental affairs. Our mission lies not in changing the nation through political reform, but in changing hearts through the Word of God. When believers think the growth and influence of Christ can somehow be allied with government policy, they corrupt the mission of the church. Our Christian mandate is to spread the gospel of Christ and to preach against the sins of our time. Only as the hearts of individuals in a culture are changed by Christ will the culture begin to reflect that change.
