Jésus rencontre les gens
John MacArthur
Jesus had little trouble reaching the harlots, the thieves, robbers, criminals, outcasts, and sinners of society, including the tax collectors and the extortionists, but He had an almost impossible time reaching the religious, self-righteous, moral people who were under the illusion and self-deception that because of their goodness, everything was OK between them and God. They recognized no sin, so they needed no Savior. That is always the danger of morality. Morality creates an illusion of safety when in fact the person who is moral may be in the greatest danger of all.

Notre attitude face au péché
Thomas Watson
We are to find as much bitterness in weeping for sin as we ever found sweetness in committing it. Till sin be bitter, Christ will not be sweet.

Je me coucherai dans la paix
Je me coucherai dans la paix et le repos, car toi, Dieu, tu me fais habiter en sécurité. Psaume 4:8.
Ann Mack
I will both lay down in peace and rest, for you God, cause me to dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8. We are in a battle, spiritually and physically. While we are doing what we need to do to combat all this craziness that is going on in the world, we must all remember to reset ourselves. To take breaks. To get away and do something else. Worship, dance, read your Bible. Go for a walk. This is what will make us stronger and keep us out of fear. Fear wants us to regress, to shut up, to stay silent, to freeze, do nothing. But I REFUSE to do nothing. When you are fearful, you will not make good decisions or have a clear head.

Jonathan Edwards
The first and the great work of a Christian is about his heart. Do not be content with seeming to do good in “outward acts” while your heart is bad, and you are a stranger to the greater internal heart duties. See that your chief study be about your heart– that there God’s image may be planted; that there His interests be advanced; that there the world and flesh are subdued; that there the love of every sin is cast out; that there the love of holiness grows.
Jonathan Edwards

Le nom de Dieu (2)
C. Matthew McMahon, Taking the Name of God in Vain (Prendre le nom de Dieu en vain)
But the [improper] use of God's name is hardly restricted just to language... Whenever we do not live up to the call of the Christian life, we take God's name in vain. We are mirrors that should reflect the perfection of God. If the mirror claims to be Christ's and reflects tendencies of hell, then we use the name of Christ in vain, and people see that.
C. Matthew McMahon, Taking the Name of God in Vain

Tim Keller, Making Sense of God: An Invitation to the Skeptical
“All death can now do to Christians is to make their lives infinitely better.”

Vivre une chrétienne
William Law
If our life is not a course of humility, self-denial, renunciation of the world, poverty of spirit, and heavenly affection, we do not live the lives of Christians.
William Law

Jeremy Riddle
So many love to be inspired by tales of revival, so few commit to labor with God on their knees and in their assigned fields to birth one. We stand less in need of itinerant "pied pipers" of revival tales and more in need of men and women whose lives will write them. Men and women who are willing to sink deep roots of righteousness, prayer, faith, hope, truth and love into the soil of their churches, their communities and their cities and birth it.

La vie chrétienne
John Piper
Christian living moves from what God has freely done for us in Christ to what we should freely do for others.

"Christ"

"DISCOURS"
“Christ”—as you hear this do not heed the simplicity of the word or the brevity of the expression. Rather, join with me in thinking of the glory of the Godhead, which is beyond thought and understanding. Think of God’s unutterable power, his immeasurable mercy, his inconceivable riches, which he generously and bountifully gives to men.

Charles H. Spurgeon
When men talk of a little hell, it is because they think they have only a little sin, and believe in a little Saviour; it is all little together. But when you get a great sense of sin, you want a great Saviour, and fell that, if you do not have Him, you will fall into a great destruction, and suffer a great punishment at the hands of the great God.
Charles H. Spurgeon

As white snowflakes fall quietly and thickly on a winter day, answers to prayer will settle down upon you at every step you take, even to your dying day. The story of your life will be the story of prayer and answers to prayer.

Steve Long
When you’re confronted with a change that challenges you, talk to the Holy Spirit about it. Create an environment where you’re not distracted, quiet yourself down, focus on Jesus, and ask what He has to say. Sometimes, God will show you what He’s saying in the change, but sometimes He’ll simply put you at peace.

Le mot "philosophie"
Jimmy Swaggart
“The word "philosophy" simply means "a pursuit of wisdom, the purpose of life, and a search for Truth." However, this quest, because it originates with man, can never find the answers. In fact, man cannot reach God or know God by intellectual pursuit.”

[Regarding repentance]
The more we defer, the more difficult and painful our work needs prove; every day will both enlarge our task and diminish our ability to perform it. Sin is never at a stay; if we do not retreat from it, we shall advance in it, and the further on we go, the more we have to come back; every step we take forward must be repeated; all the web we spin must be unraveled.
