Une bannière d'amour
Thomas Watson
Christians, you who are vessels of election - were by nature as wicked as others - but God had compassion on you and plucked you as brands out of the fire! He stopped you in your course of sinning - when you were marching to hell! He turned you back to Him by sincere repentance. Oh, here is the banner of love displayed over you!
Thomas Watson

"Ai-je accepté Jésus comme mon maître ?"
Dallas Willard
Many people think of Jesus as our Savior, as the one who will get us into heaven. So the question often is "Have I accepted Jesus as my Savior?" But we never ask the question "Have I accepted Jesus as my teacher?"
Dallas Willard

Pour moi, Dieu est un mystère
Allan Sandage (lauréat du prix Crawford en astronomie) Willford, J.N. 12 mars 1991. Sizing up the Cosmos : An Astronomers Quest. New York Times, p. B9.
“I find it quite improbable that such order came out of chaos. There has to be some organizing principle. God to me is a mystery but is the explanation for the miracle of existence, why there is something instead of nothing.”
Allan Sandage (winner of the Crawford prize in astronomy) Willford, J.N. March 12, 1991. Sizing up the Cosmos: An Astronomers Quest. New York Times, p. B9.

Nous devons revenir à l'âme
Martyn Lloyd-Jones, I Am Not Ashamed : Advice to Timothy, Baker, 1996, p. 82-83.
We must come back to the soul and to God who made it. We were made for Him, we are meant for Him, we have a correspondence with Him, and we will never come to rest until, like that needle on the compass, we strike that northern point, and there we come to rest – nowhere else.

En chacun de nous existe l'image de Dieu
Alister McGrath
Within each of us exists the image of God, however disfigured and corrupted by sin it may presently be. God is able to recover this image through grace as we are conformed to Christ.
Alister McGrath

L'enseignant aime rencontrer ses étudiants individuellement
Nancy Leigh DeMoss, A Place of Quiet Rest, Moody, 2000, p. 62.
The fact is, there is a “course” that addresses every issue we will ever face. The Teacher loves to meet one-on-one with His students, so that He can tailor the course to our needs. He is willing to hold class every day that we are willing to meet. We already have the Textbook, which was written by the Teacher Himself. Parts of it can be difficult to grasp. But the Teacher is always available – twenty-four hours a day – to help us understand.

Satan tente pour un péché progressivement.
Thomas Watson
Satan tempts to sin gradually. As the husbandman digs about the root of a tree, and by degrees loosens it, and at last it falls. Satan steals by degrees into the heart: he is at first more modest.

Le mur
Jim Elliff
To put a wall between you and others is to build a wall between you and God.
Jim Elliff
John Piper, The Dangerous Duty of Delight, 2001, p. 61.
Conversion, then, is repentance (turning from sin and unbelief) and faith (trusting in Christ alone for salvation). They are really two sides of the same coin. One side is tails – turn tail on the fruits of unbelief. The other side is heads – head straight for Jesus and trust His promises. You can’t have the one without the other any more than you can face two ways at once, or serve two masters.
John Piper, The Dangerous Duty of Delight, 2001, p. 61.

La prière que Jésus a enseignée
Timothy Z. Witmer
I’ve heard some folks say that when they pray they don’t ask for anything for themselves. This might sound very selfless and holy, but it is wrong! The prayer Jesus taught his own disciples includes specific personal requests. It begins with praise to our Father in heaven and ends with his kingdom and power and glory; but in the middle supplications, Jesus teaches us to ask God to meet our important personal needs.

Que le monde soit... et il en fut ainsi.
A.W. Pink, The Attributes of God, Baker Book House, p. 49.
Before man can work he must have both tools and materials, but God began with nothing, and by His Word alone out of nothing made all things. The intellect cannot grasp it. God “spake and it was done, He commanded and it stood fast” (Ps. 33:9). Primeval matter heard His voice. “God said, Let there be… and it was so” (Gen 1).
A.W. Pink, The Attributes of God, Baker Book House, p. 49.

Chrétien, c'est ton Seigneur !
Auteur inconnu
But who is this that cometh from the tomb, with dyed garments from the bed of death? He that is glorious in His appearance, walking in the greatness of strength? It is thy Prince, O Zion! Christian, it is your Lord! He hath trodden the wine-press alone; He hath stained His raiment with blood; but now as the first-born from the womb of nature, He meets the morning of His resurrection. He arises, a conqueror from the grave; He returns with blessings from the world of spirits; He brings salvation to the sons of men. Never did the returning sun usher in a day so glorious! It was the jubilee of the universe!

L'une des menaces les plus graves
Sam Storms
One of the most serious threats to the human spirit is boredom. Boredom is the breeding ground for wickedness. Bored people are easy targets of the flesh and the Devil. It is like putting a bull's-eye on your chest with a sign: "Tempt me. I'm easy!" Why? Because boredom is contrary to the natural, God-given impulse for fascination, excitement, pleasure, and exhilaration.

La croix du Christ
Samuel Rutherford
The cross of Christ is the sweetest burden that I ever bore; it is such a burden as wings are to a bird, or sails to a ship, to carry me forward to my harbor.
Samuel Rutherford

La joie du chrétien
Robert Leighton, Rules and Instructions for a Holy Life.
Let thy great joy and comfort evermore be, to have His pleasure done in thee, though in pains, sickness, persecutions, oppressions, or inward griefs and pressures of heart, coldness or barrenness of mind, darkening of thy will and senses, or any temptations spiritual or bodily.
Robert Leighton, Rules and Instructions for a Holy Life.

Faire confiance à Dieu
Charles Spurgeon
To trust God in the light is nothing, but to trust him in the dark, that is faith.
Charles Spurgeon
