Se reconnaitre dépendant de Dieu

Satan déteste les enfants de Dieu
Randy Smith
Satan hates God’s children. It is his utmost ambition to see us fail in our spiritual responsibilities. Specifically, his goal is to do whatever it takes to take us off the spiritual front lines. Doubt. Distractions. Greater love for other things. Sin. Laziness. It’s subtle, its strategic, it’s sinister. His methods are predictable, but missed by those spiritually asleep and not alert. That’s why we read in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

L'amour de soi
Charles H. Spurgeon
“Self-love is, no doubt, the usual foundation of human jealousy... the fear lest another should by any means supplant us.”

Tom Wells, A Vision for Missions, p. 152.
The God who is worthy to be known and served for who He is, is Himself the answer to this world’s longings. And those who know Him best are best equipped to serve Him. He is their message. If we have discovered the glory of God in the face of Christ, we must not hold back. The God of glory must be made known.
Tom Wells, A Vision for Missions, p. 152.

Verifiable

Damon Thompson
Why does God whisper instead of shout? It's because he does not want to just give you a word, he wants to bring you near.

L'athlète olympique
Randy Smith
What are some traits that mark an Olympian? 1. They have a “whatever-it-takes” attitude. They’ve made the decision to pay any price and bear any burden in the name of victory. 2. They have a plan to push forward when they encounter obstacles. They know facing adversity is part of being successful. 3. They have strict accountability. 4. They consider “very good” (or worse, “good enough”) to be “bad.” They are driven to perform at an elite level. 5. They set high goals for themselves. Motivation is keeping your eyes on the goal. 6. They are humble to know others can provide advice to make them better. 7. Levels of priorities are set and their life stays in-tune with those priorities. The same single-minded devotion expected from an Olympian is the same single-minded devotion our Savior expects from His followers. Yes, the fruit of sacrifice and self-denial will be different. Yes, the goals and rewards are different. And yes, the source of strength is different. However, the traits that mark an Olympian that I mentioned earlier could also apply to the traits that mark a disciple of Jesus Christ. If anything, we should be more motivated (see 1 Cor. 9:24-27a).

L'intégrité se construit en ...
Rick Warren
“Integrity is built by defeating the temptation to be dishonest; humility grows when we refuse to be prideful; and endurance develops every time you reject the temptation to give up.”

Dieu ne nous tente pas
Philip Graham Ryken, Lead Us Not Into Temptation de When You Pray, 2000, p. 151.
The fact that [God] does not tempt us (James 1:13) does not mean that our temptations are somehow outside of His control. God is sovereign over all the affairs of life, including every temptation to sin. Although He does not cause our temptations, He does allow them to occur.

La philosophie
John MacArthur
Philosophy claims to be true but is utterly deceitful, like a fisherman who captures his unwitting prey by concealing a deadly hook within a tasty morsel of food. The fish thinks it’s getting a meal but becomes one instead. Similarly, those who embrace a human philosophy about God or man might think they’re getting truth, but instead they get empty deception, which can lead to eternal damnation.

SAMUEL JOHN STONE (1839-1900) ECCLÉSIASTIQUE ANGLAIS HYMNE, "THE CHURCH'S ONE FOUNDATION", 1866
The Church’s one foundation Is Jesus Christ her Lord: She is His new creation By water and the word; From heaven he came and sought her To be His holy bride: With His own blood he bought her, And for her life He died.

La patience a divers objets
William Plumer
Patience has various objects. Towards God it is resigned, and says, “I will bear the indignation of the Lord.” Towards Christian people, who justly reprove us, it is meek, and says, “Let the righteous smite me!” Towards wicked and unreasonable people, who love to see others afflicted, it says, “Rejoice not against me, O my enemy.” Towards the trials under which we are called to suffer, it is not uneasy and rebellious, but rather gives them a kind reception.

Le nom de Dieu
C. Matthew McMahon, Taking the Name of God in Vain (Prendre le nom de Dieu en vain)
When we use our tongues in a way that dishonors God’s name we use His name in vain. This is when we curse and swear. It is when we say “O my God” or any such time when the Lord’s name is used in an irreverent way. Even when we are in prayer or praise to God and we continually repeat the name “Jesus” or “Father” irreverently through vain repetition, we use God's name in vain. It is a sacred name and should be held in high esteem no matter when we invoke it. For invoking the name of God is a weighty matter and should not be taken lightly.

Francis Chan
The Holy Spirit is a person. He is not an indistinct power or thing. I often hear people refer to the Holy Spirit as an "it", as if the Spirit is a thing or force that we can control or use this distinction may seem subtle or trivial, but it's actually a very serious misunderstanding of the Spirit and His role in our lives.

Le don et l'adoration
Wayne Watts
While researching the biblical principles of giving, I considered the subject of worship. Frankly, I had never before studied worship in detail to find out God’s point of view. I have come to the conclusion that giving, along with our thanksgiving and praise, is worship. In the past I made pledges to my church to be paid on a yearly basis. Once a month, I would write a check while in church and drop it in the collection plate. Sometimes I would mail a check from my office. My objective was for the church to get the total pledge before the end of the year. Though I had already experienced the joy of giving, the act of making my gift had little relationship to worship. While I was writing this book God convicted me to begin giving every time I went to church. The verse that spoke to me about this Deuteronomy 16:16: “Do not appear before Me empty-handed.” When I started doing this, if a check were not handy, I gave cash. At first I thought about keeping up with the money given. Then God convicted me again. He seemed to say, “You do not need to keep up with the amount of cash. Give to Me simply out of a heart of love, and see how much you enjoy the service.” I made this change in giving habits, and it has greatly enhanced my joy in our worship services.

A. C. Dixon
We have accounts of the deification of men in pagan mythology. But I do not remember any account of a god becoming a man, to help man. Whoever heard of Jupiter or Mars or Minerva coming down and attempting to bear the burdens of men? The gods were willing enough to receive the gifts of men, but Christianity is unique in the fact that our God became a man with human infirmity and emptied Himself of the glory of heaven, in order that He might take upon Himself the sins, diseases and weakness of our humanity.
