Conviction et appel

Nous croyons que la Bible font la distinction entre une œuvre générale de conviction par l'Esprit - telle qu'elle peut faire pleurer un Ésaü et trembler un Félix - et l'appel spécial, qui confère la vie, donné par la grâce d'un Dieu souverain à ceux qu'Il a choisis. Seuls ceux qui sont prédestinés reçoivent cet appel et il est clairement indiqué de ne pas suivre la foi justifiante mais de la précéder (Romains 8:30 ; Actes 13:48, etc.) et d'obtenir le consentement de ceux à qui elle est donnée (Jean 6:36, 37 ; Éphésiens 2:1-8). Ce sont ceux qui sont nés de nouveau qui "voient le royaume de Dieu" et croient donc à l'Évangile.

We believe that the Scriptures distinguish between a general work of conviction by the Spirit – such as may make an Esau weep and a Felix tremble – and the special, life-conferring call, given by the grace of a sovereign God to those whom He has chosen. Only those who are predestinated receive this call and it is clearly stated not to follow justifying faith but to precede it (Romans 8:30; Acts 13:48, etc.) and to secure the consent of those to whom it is given (John 6:36, 37; Eph. 2:1-8). It is those who are born again who “see the kingdom of God” and thus believe the gospel.
