La sagesse
Edward Welch, Dépression : A Stubborn Darkness, Punch Press, 2004, p. 252.
Other stories are always looking for ways to humanize God and deify us, but God’s story exalts Him and brings appropriate humility to us as His creatures. All wisdom starts here. If you miss it, you are on the wrong path and without hope.
Edward Welch, Depression: A Stubborn Darkness, Punch Press, 2004, p. 252.

En colère ?
Erwin W. Lutzer
Yes, we might have ‘righteous anger’ as we see our culture destroyed, but if our anger spills over into our Christian witness, it only fuels the stereotype that the world already has of us. Yes, we are called to expose the sins of the world, but to do so with redemption, in humility and compassion.

Notre temps terrestre
John MacArthur, 2 Timothy, Moody, 1995, p. 196.
We have only the time allotted by God, and none of us knows when it will run out. Every Christian life runs by His divine timetable and against His divine clock. We do not know how long He will hold open the door of a given opportunity or of our entire time of service. “Be careful how you walk,” Paul counsels, “not as unwise men, but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil” (Eph. 5:16). God gives us many things without limit – His love, His grace, and many others. But His gift of time is strictly measured.
John MacArthur, 2 Timothy, Moody, 1995, p. 196.

Le but ultime de Dieu pour nous
Jerry Bridges, Transforming Grace, NavPress, 1991, p. 105.
God’s ultimate goal for us, however, is that we be truly conformed to the likeness of His Son in our person as well as in our standing… Jesus did not die just to save us from the penalty of sin, nor even just to make us holy in our standing before God. He died to purify for Himself a people eager to obey Him, a people eager to be transformed into His likeness… This process of gradually conforming us to the likeness of Christ begins at the very moment of our salvation when the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us and to actually give us a new life in Christ. We call this gradual process progressive sanctification, or growing in holiness, because it truly is a growth process.
Jerry Bridges, Transforming Grace, NavPress, 1991, p. 105.

Jerry Bridges, The Practice of Godliness, 1996, p. 112.
In His infinite wisdom, God allows trials in order to develop perseverance in us and to cause us to fix our hopes on the glory that is yet to be revealed… Our faith and perseverance can grow only under the pain of trial.
Jerry Bridges, The Practice of Godliness, 1996, p. 112.

Jerry Bridges, The Gospel for Real Life by Jerry Bridges, 2002, p. 158.
We should never be afraid to examine ourselves. But when doubts do arise, the solution is not to try harder to prove to ourselves that we are believers. The solution is to flee to the cross and to the righteousness of Christ, which is our only hope. And then, having looked to Christ alone for our justification, we can look to His Spirit to enable us to deal with those areas of our lives that cause doubt.
Jerry Bridges, The Gospel for Real Life by Jerry Bridges, 2002, p. 158.

Aller plus haut
Joyce Meyer
Today, Lord I am going to do my best with Your help and for Your glory. I realize that there are many different people in the world with a variety of opinions and expectations. I will concentrate on being a God-pleaser and not a self-pleaser or man-pleaser. The rest I leave in Your hands, Lord. Grant me favour with You and with men and continue transforming me into the image of Your dear Son.

Unis pour Dieu
Raymond C. Ortlund Jr., The Gospel: How the Church Portrays the Beauty of Christ
“It is joyous for a church to stand together as one and say: “We don’t know exactly how this is going to play out. But we’re going to trust the Lord and move forward, because all that matters to us is the greater glory of Jesus in our world today.”

Les balances
Matt Chandler
This tilting-the-scales stuff is based on the very unbiblical idea that good little boys and girls are the ones who go to heaven. In reality, it’s bad little boys and girls transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ who go to heaven—those whose sins are covered by His redeeming work, and who love Him so much because of it, they live now to flesh out these new desires He’s placed within them as a way of expressing their willing worship. Not to buy their way inside, but to celebrate being inside. Because we can never be redeemed by religion.

La justice de la croix
La justice ne vient jamais par la foi en soi, mais par la foi en Dieu.

Righteousness never comes by faith in self, but by faith in God.

Basé sur la Bible
Martyn Lloyd-Jones, What is an Evangelical?, 1992, p. 30.
The church is always to be under the Word; she must be; we must keep her there. You must not assume that because the church started correctly, she will continue so. She did not do so in the New Testament times; she has not done so since. Without being constantly reformed by the Word the church becomes something very different. We must always keep the church under the Word.
Martyn Lloyd-Jones, What is an Evangelical?, 1992, p. 30.

Rien sauf Dieu
John Piper, Brothers, We Are Not Professionals, Bethlehem Baptist Church, 2002, p. 239.
Nothing makes God more supreme and more central than when a people are utterly persuaded that nothing – not money or prestige or leisure or family or job or health or sports or toys or friends – is going to bring satisfaction to their aching hearts besides God. This conviction breeds a people who passionately long for God on Sunday morning. They are not confused about why they are here. They do not see songs and prayers and sermons as mere traditions or mere duties. They see them as means of getting to God or God getting to them for more of His fullness.
John Piper, Brothers, We Are Not Professionals, Bethlehem Baptist Church, 2002, p. 239.

Having convictions can be defined as being so thoroughly convinced that Christ and His Word are both objectively true and relationally meaningful that you act on your beliefs regardless of the consequences.
Josh McDowell and Bob Hostelter

Dieu et la Bible
John MacArthur et Richard Mayhue, Doctrine biblique, 2017, page 70.
In Scripture, the person of God and the Word of God are everywhere interrelated, so much so that whatever is true about the character of God is true about the nature of God’s Word… What a person thinks about God’s Word in reality reflects what a person thinks about God.
John MacArthur and Richard Mayhue, Biblical Doctrine, 2017, page 70.
