Consider how our Lord Himself resisted Satan when He was tempted in the wilderness (see Matthew 4 and Luke 4.) Jesus did not "bind" Satan. In all three instances of Satan's temptations, our Lord quoted Scripture, and the devil was repelled ("he left Him for a season.") We should follow our Lord's example when attacked or tempted. And let's not forget that if we are going to quote Scripture, we must know Scripture! Our Lord quoted three times from the book of Deuteronomy. How many of us can quote three verses from the book of Deuteronomy? Knowledge of the Word of God is important for repelling Satan, and is crucial for Christian growth and living as well. As He was growing up, the Lord Jesus must have spent a lot of time memorizing the Word of God (see Luke 2:52). What an example for us to follow!

Friendship with Jesus is the first source of abiding freshness in our Christian lives. What is a friend? A “friend” is one in agreement and attachment to the deepest and most fundamental things of a person’s life. In order to be a friend of Jesus, I must be born again of the Spirit of God. Only then will I have a disposition like His.
It is an experience of perennial delight to any man or woman to know that he or she has a friend “that sticketh closer than a brother”! Jesus is this kind of friend. He understands the heart so thoroughly that He satisfies the last aching abyss of the heart. Jesus is ready to be your friend, if you will but come to Him. This attachment in holy friendship will bring freshness to your heart and life.

One of my favorite verses for this is 1 Corinthians 16:9 "...A wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries." Opportunity and Opposition are partners. They are the two tracks the train runs on. They are constants, you need both to get you where you're going.

There is a vast difference between such an affection and that selfish and unhallowed friendship to God which terminates on our own happiness as its supreme motive and end. If a man in his supposed love to God has no ultimate regard except to his own happiness, if he delights in God not for what He is but for what He is to him, in such a sentiment there is no moral virtue. There is indeed great love of self but no true love of God. But where the enmity of the carnal mind is slain, the soul is reconciled to the divine character as it is. God Himself in the fullness of His manifested glory becomes the object of devout and delighted contemplation. - “Christ… n’a pas commis de péché” (1 Pierre 2. 22).
La conduite de Jésus était parfaite, il a toujours obéi à Dieu et n’a jamais rien fait de mal (Luc 23. 41). Il a fermé la bouche à ses opposants en leur demandant : “Qui de vous me convaincra de péché ?” (Jean 8. 46).
